Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of personalities, and a gripping narrative including angels, demons, and dark forces growing in strength within the urban setting.
Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure are included.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The latest chapter finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of adventurers who will split off from the central cast to begin their independent quest, distinct from the other two tables.
This warrior group consists of Teor (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Given an extensive roster, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Soldiers, Schemers, and Questers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
Per the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are scarce.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are best suited for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
First, the party understands precisely where to go next after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the narrative’s action—used the foes for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, striking Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.
Casimir then settled his debts and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each member has a individual motive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants vengeance.
- The adventurer knows Timmony and advises that it is a hostile place.
- The warrior and The cleric, having defied his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- However, their reputation as prominent individuals in the influential clan could assist the party enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, Teor pledged a eternal obligation to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:
- Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The healer turned against the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.
This leaves them little choice but to travel to the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
Based on episode three’s follow-up content, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight cast members to round up the Explorers and Schemers groups.
Audiences can expect learning which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
